| Bio: | CHARACTER NAME: Elle Woods FANDOM: Legally Blonde AGE: 26 ALIGNMENT (GOOD, EVIL, NEUTRAL): Good BRIEF BACKGROUND SUMMARY: Elle Woods begins as the stereotypical rich dumb blonde college student- although she showed an impressive knowledge of fashion trivia- who is president of her sorority, Delta Nu, and madly in love with her boyfriend, Warner Huntington III. Early on the couple meet for dinner where she anticipates that Warner will propose, when in fact he is breaking up with her because she is "too blonde", reasoning that Elle is a "Marilyn", not a "Jackie" and he needs a Jackie if he wants to be in politics. Elle learns that after college Warner is heading to Harvard Law School. In an effort to win him back she also manages to gain entry into Harvard, with a 179 on her LSAT (in the musical she scores a 175). At law school, she is the odd one out, both for her eye-catching pink outfits and stunning good looks, but she eventually makes friends due to her genuinely good nature, prompting her to- among other things-, claim to have had a passionate one-night-stand with a shy fellow student to help him get a date, and even forming a certain bond with Warner's new fiance Vivian. While getting a pick-me-up manicure, she befriends the manicurist, Paulette, with their friendship giving Elle the boost she needs to stick it out at Harvard. As time progresses, she forms a friendship with Emmett, an associate in the law firm of one of her professors, and is one of the students selected for participation in a real legal case defending Brook Taylor- a member of Elle's old fraternity sisterhood- , a fitness instructor accused of murdering her rich older husband. Although Elle manages to prove that Brooke wasn't having an affair with the pool cleaner as the man claimed- due to the cleaner recognising Elle's shoe style, she realised that he was gay as straight men have no clue about fashions-, she suffers a crisis of confidence when she learns that the professor only appointed her as an intern because he liked her looks. Elle almost leaves Harvard, believing that nobody will ever take her seriously, but, in a character-defining moment, thanks to encouragement from Emmett and one of her other professors, she decides to apply herself diligently to her studies, using her fashion knowledge to prove the woman's innocence after she is taken on as Brooke's new lawyer on the grounds that she, at least, believes Brooke innocent. Questioning Brooke's step-daughter from her husband's first marriage, Elle realises that the victim's daughter couldn't have been in the shower when her father was shot as she claimed due to her having recently had a perm, and in fact it was the daughter who shot Brooke's husband as he came through a door, believing him to be Brooke. Having ended things with Warner for good- having come to prefer her new legal career to the fundamentally self-centred Warner, who shows little understanding of Elle's refusal to break her word-, she ends up graduating with honors, and as the valedictorian, proving to herself and the world that nothing is impossible.
